MIX BASICS

DIRECT DROP

Each song in FUSER has up to 4 discs of musical content that you can drop into play on the four decks that make up your DJ booth.  Each disc type (Beat, Bass, Melody and Vocal) has an icon that is directly mapped to a button on your controller.  The easiest way to drop a disc is to press the button that corresponds to the loop you want to put into play: The disc will drop onto the deck and the music will begin playing in the mix.

GRAB AND DROP

Another way to put a disc onto a deck is by grabbing and dropping it. Grab a disc by hovering over a song and holding down the button that corresponds with the disc you want to play. You can now move the disc over any of the four decks and drop it into play.

PRO TIP: Grab-and-drop allows you to place multiples of the same disc type into the mix at the same time. Double up on Beat discs, for example, for striking new sounds and rhythms.

CUE DROP

Make big changes to your mix by dropping cued discs.  Each deck contains a cue slot, located directly below the active (“now playing”) slot. Place discs into the cue slots by holding LT while pressing the face buttons on your controller (console) or right-click/shift-click the disc icons (PC). Discs in the CUE don’t play until you swap them onto the deck.  You can use the SWAP deck control to move individual discs from the cue slot into play, or put all cued discs into play at once via LT+RT (console) or SPACE (PC).

DECK CONTROLS

Each deck has its own set of controls that give you additional power over the sound of your mix. Access a deck’s controls by hovering over it with your cursor.

PRO TIP: Timing matters in FUSER – all actions, including the deck controls, sound better (and will score more points) when activated on the beat.

MUTE

Use the MUTE control to temporarily silence a playing disc without affecting the audio output of any other discs in play.  Muted discs appear gray.

SOLO

The SOLO function allows you to highlight a single disc in play by muting all other playing discs.  You’ll notice a visual effect on the disc when the SOLO control has been activated.

PRO TIP: try to time your use of the SOLO control to highlight a specific phrase

EJECT

Use the EJECT control to clear a disc from its deck. You can also manually eject discs by grabbing them from their deck and tossing them to the right or left edge of the screen.

Eject.png

PRO TIP: Deft use of the EJECT control is a great way to end mixes, clearing each disc one at a time in time with the beat.

SWAP

Activating SWAP will swap discs between the deck and the cue slot.

PRO TIP: You can use the swap to create super tight cuts between two tracks.

VOLUME

Each deck has its own Volume control, allowing you to adjust the level of audio output for each playing disc.

PRO TIP: Use the volume controls to crossfade from one disc’s audio into another.

EFFECTS

Effects are unique modifiers that change the quality of a playing disc’s audio output. You can bring up to eight effects at a time into your performances. Effects can be applied to individual decks or to the entire mix.

To use Effects, hover your cursor over any playing disc and follow the onscreen instructions to open the Effects interface.

Effects1.png

Available Effects will show up above the selected disc. Select any effects to open play Effects interface.

Effects1.png

Hold Play to activate the Effect. Move the cursor through the Effect panel to generate different sounds.

Press Auto-play to keep the Effect active after the Effects window is closed.

Effects3.png

Image below shows the difference between disc with an auto-playing Effect and disc without an active Effect.

Effects4.png

Effects placed on a disc will remain auto-playing on the deck if you eject or switch to a new disc. You may opt deactivate the Effect before switching for a smoother transition.

GLOBAL CONTROLS

Global controls are a set of tools that allow you to change aspects of the mix as a whole.

TempoKeyTonality.png

KEY

Changing the key of the mix can have a dramatic impact on how it feels.  Find the key that feels the best to you!

TEMPO

Adjusting the tempo will change the overall timing of the mix – you can slow it down or speed it up.

TONALITY

You can change your mix from Major to Minor, allowing you to reimagine familiar songs in a whole new light.

PRO TIP: In Freestyle Mode, the first loop you drop will establish the Key, Tempo, and Tonality.

RISERS

If you want to make a big impression with your listeners, transition from your active mix to a set of cued discs with a Riser, which automatically blends the mixes together with a dramatic flourish.
